Junk car removal in Englewood

Cars Junk Man buys junk and dead cars in Englewood and tows them away free, anywhere from Garfield Boulevard down to 75th Street. Tell us the car and where it sits, whether that's the curb on a side street off Halsted, a vacant lot or a side yard, and you're paid at pickup.

Junk car removal in Englewood: where the car usually sits

Englewood runs from Garfield Boulevard on the north to 75th Street on the south, and from Racine Avenue on the west to an irregular line along the Metra tracks on the east. Halsted Street is the main road through the middle of it, and the Dan Ryan Expressway cuts through too. We pick up across all of it as part of junk car removal across Chicago, with free towing and payment at pickup.

The transit stops make good landmarks for a driver. The Red Line stops at Garfield and at 63rd Street, and the Green Line stops at Halsted. The big one on 63rd is Kennedy-King College, which moved onto the old Englewood Shopping Center site at 63rd and Halsted and opened there in 2007; its campus includes the Washburne Culinary Institute. If your car is a few blocks from the college, say that. It’s easier than an address.

The rail crossing on the east side of the neighborhood was rebuilt as an overpass through the CREATE project, finished in 2014. Blocks near the tracks can still be awkward to reach, so give cross streets.

Pickup notes for Englewood

  • Give cross streets relative to Halsted or 63rd. “Two blocks west of Halsted, just north of 63rd” gets a driver to you faster than a house number alone.
  • Car on a lot or side yard instead of the street? Say so. The driver needs a clear path from the curb to the car, so mention fences, gates, debris or soft ground.
  • Car hasn’t moved in a long time? A car that can’t be driven, or that hasn’t moved in more than seven days and looks deserted, can be classified as abandoned in Chicago and reported to 311. Our guide to Chicago’s abandoned car rules has the details. If it’s yours, sell it before it’s towed.
  • Dead battery, flat tires, no keys? None of that stops a pickup. See non-running car removal for what to tell us.
  • Third Saturday in August: that’s the Englewood Back to School Parade. Don’t book a pickup on the route that day.

How it goes

Send the year, make, model and title status through the form. We call you with an offer. The truck comes to the car, the driver checks it matches what you told us, you show your paperwork and you’re paid at pickup. No title in hand? We can still help. Tell us which papers you’ve got, like a bill of sale, the registration or an insurance card. Illinois rules set which of them a scrap sale can use, and we’ll tell you where you stand on the call. Same-day pickup is often possible.

Next door in Greater Grand Crossing or Auburn Gresham? We cover other South Side neighborhoods too.

Englewood pickup questions

The car is on a lot next to my house, not the street. Can you still get it?
Yes. Say so when you send the form, and tell us whether there's a clear path from the curb to the car. Fences, debris or a soft patch of ground all change the plan.
Can you pick up on the day of the Back to School Parade?
The Englewood Back to School Parade is held on the third Saturday in August. If your car is on or near the route, pick another day or tell us so we plan around it.
