How junk car removal works
Junk car removal with Cars Junk Man is four steps: you send the car's details, we call with an offer, we set a pickup time, and the truck takes the car while you're paid at pickup. Towing is free. Here's what we need from you at each step.
The four steps
Send the car
Year, make, model and whether you have the title. Then your name, your phone and where the car is.
Two short screens, seven boxes. Tell us where the car sits too: street, alley, driveway or garage. That one detail decides which truck comes.
Get the offer
We call you back with an offer for the car. Towing is free, so nothing comes off that number for the tow.
Ask anything on that call: when you'll be paid, what could change the offer, whether the truck can reach the car. If you don't like the number, say no. If you want time, take it: the offer doesn't expire.
Pick the pickup time
Same-day pickup is often possible. Clear the way to the car and get your paperwork out.
Paperwork means the title. No title? Tell us which papers you've got, like a bill of sale, the registration or an insurance card. Illinois rules set which of them a scrap sale can use, and we'll tell you where you stand on the call. Take your things and the plates out of the car before the truck comes.
Paid at pickup, car gone
The driver checks the car matches what you told us, you're paid, and the car leaves on the truck.
Towing is free. You're paid as the car is collected, by Zelle, Cash App, another digital payment or cash. Then call your insurer and cancel the policy on that car.
At the curb: what the driver does
The driver's first job is checking the car is the one we talked about: year, make, model, and the condition you described. Then the paperwork. A title is best. No title? You'll have told us what papers you have, and we'll have confirmed on the call which ones work under Illinois rules.
Then the car goes on the truck. How depends on the car: one that rolls gets pulled up, one that won't roll gets winched. Either way, it's not your job. Your job was telling us about it. Junk car towing covers street, alley and garage pickups.
Before the truck comes
- Take out your papers and belongings. Check under the seats and the trunk floor.
- Pull the license plates.
- Peel off the toll transponder, and keep the city sticker if you'll transfer it.
- Clear the path to the car: move other cars, open the gate, empty the space in front of the garage door.
- Have your paperwork out and ready.
The full checklist is in what to take out before junking a car.
